JUST 18 DAYS TILL COLLEGE TIME!

Monday, July 21, 2014

We are in the final countdown for taking our daughter back to college in Pennsylvania. This being her senior year, you’d think that we’d have this down to a perfect science, but no… there will still be last minute preparations, piles of clothes to be packed and endless things that get forgotten. We have the basics down. We know that she’ll need her refrigerator this year and can’t forget the rug to warm the floors. We’ll need the extra bedding to make the dorm mattresses comfy and plenty of pencils, pens, paper and such to get the job done. All of this will need to fit into plastic bags to make the 9 hour trip to college.

We can’t be alone in this chaotic process. I know that there are tons of other parents out there who have gone through this, or are going through it for the first time. Got any great tips you’d love to share? I’m going to be posting a few as time goes by. Just some simple tips to help those in need.

TIP #1:  THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMETHING YOU FORGET. DON’T SWET IT!

There will always be things that you thought you’d need that won’t get used, and things that never even entered your consciousness that are needed. Unless the college is in the middle of nowhere there is bound to be a WalMart, Walgreens, or any number of places to pick up those forgotten items. The bonus is that you didn’t have to cart them all the way there!
