Why December 31st is a Great Shopping Day!!!!

If you own a business, you know where I'm going with this. December 31st is the last day of the year to get in those expenditures to offset profits (or losses) for 2015!

But why does this make this a great shopping day? Because while you are trying to offset profits, many stores and companies are making a final, last push for sales for the year. They want to top it off right and they want your money to do it.

Also, there is the whole inventory issue for stores.  Most companies use the slow period of January to do their inventory and projections for the following year. They want as little as possible on the floors to count. Believe me, one of my first jobs was working inventory for a home style store.

And then, there are the car dealers. I'm not saying that you should run out and buy a car, but there are usually very good deals to be had on current year models. As the ball drops on New Year, all those shiny new 2015 instantly become last years models. They will often up the ante with great deals and warrantees.

One last thing (since I already forgot about it) a reminder... if you are purchased items online, especially big ticket items or supplies, go to ebates.com and sign up for a free account to get money back on those purchases. Just because you are buying for the business doesn't mean you can't save money in the meantime. Companies like Amazon, Walmart and Kohl's participate. Just to name a few. It's worth the time to go to ebates.com first. Most companies that participate offer rebates of 4-7% or more, depending on the item.

So, what are you waiting for? Go shopping!!!
